Cancellation and refund Policy for Sailing Courses
Terms and conditions and Course Cancellation Policy
This refund policy applies to all RYA and Mainstay Sailing Courses. It is designed to protect the students and the school in the event that a student has to cancel, or if the course cannot go ahead because of unforeseen issues. When you register a course with Mainstay Sailing we make a commitment to resources of your course and incur costs and business risks in servicing your registration. In the event of your cancellation the following charges apply:
If you cancel:
- If you cancel with more than 60 days’ notice we will hold 25% of your order value as credit and we will refund the balance to you. If you have paid a booking deposit it will be held as credit.
- If you cancel with 30-60 days’ notice, we charge 50% of the order value as a cancellation fee and will provide you with a credit for the other 50%
- If you cancel with less than 30 days’ notice there is no refund or credit provided.
You must hold insurance for medical expenses when you join Mainstay Sailing outside your home country, including cover for your sports activities. We recommend you also have insurance in place to cover course fees in case of unavoidable cancellation, and for personal belongings in case of loss or damage.
We RECOMMEND ALL GUESTS have Travel Insurance which covers cancellation for a variety of reasons, including Pre-trip COVID cancellation cover. Cancellation due to contracting COVID or as a close contact will now no longer be considered a valid reason to cancel or postpone a trip.
If we cancel:
- Before or during the course due to bad weather, equipment failure, unavailability of instructor or vessel, or insufficient students/ student cancellations we will reschedule the booking to a suitable date within 5 weeks of the original booking. If no bookings are available within 5 weeks, we will refund the course fees in full.
